Martin Luther says of Roman’s, “This letter is truly the most important piece in the New Testament, It is the purest Gospel. It is well worth a Christian’s while not only to memorize it word for word but also to occupy himself with it daily, as though it were the daily bread of the soul.” What’s your relationship to Romans? Do you read it often? Do you memorize it? Why or why not?

- Chapter 3 talks about the advantages that Jews have. What are some of the advantages that Christians have?
- Why do you think Paul quotes so much from the Old Testament in Chapter 3?
- Read the argument in 3:5-8. In what ways do we as a church / society take God’s grace lightly? In what ways do you do this personally?
- What is the meaning of the phrase in verse 9 stating that both the Jews and Greeks are “under sin”?
- What is your understanding of the law given to the Jews? How is the law beneficial in it’s job of revealing our sin to us? (verse 20) What role did faith play in the law? What does it mean that the law was established by faith? (verse 31)
- Chapter 3 explains so clearly the foundation of Christian faith. How can you take this chapter and restate it in a way that would communicate the message of Christ to those around you who don’t know him?
