Good morning!
I hope you are enjoying your Friday. I was constantly reminded this week that every day is an opportunity to share your story of faith with the people around you. Last week we looked at Psalm 9 where we see David declaring the “wonderful deeds” of God in his life. What deeds has He done recently in your life? How can you declare these?
It is sometimes easy to think, “I love God and am following after Him, but I don’t really see God at work in or around me.” While this may be a thought we often can have, it is not really true. While our eyes and ears may not sense He is at work, He is. I love this verse from Philippians 1:6, “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ”. There is a work God is doing in you and I. It is truly wonderful. We should exhaust every breath we have to let other people in on it.
As usual, there are several things going on around the Park. Check out the latest:
Psalms Teaching Series: This Sunday we are continuing our study of a few Psalms. Our first one will be Psalm 63. A great way to get more out of Sunday is to read before coming. So, take a 5 minute break today and give it a read. We will see you Sunday.
Children’s Hunger Fund service project: It was amazing to see people bringing CHF boxes of food back to the Park last Sunday. In case you’ve been gone, we recently partnered with CHF on a Food Pak project. What is a Food Pak? It’s very simple: CHF works with local churches to share the gospel through showing the love of God in meeting a physical need. They invited us the last two weeks to take a box, go to the grocery store during the week and put food in it. Then, bring it back to the Park the next Sunday. CHF will then deliver the food to families in San Antonio who desperately need it.
For those of you who took a box these past 2 Sundays you must return it this week at Huebner Elementary. For more on CHF go to: www.chfus.org. Would you like to volunteer directly with CHF? Or would you like to help coordinate this type of event in the future at the Park? Email Chris at chris@theparksa.org
Lunch after Church: On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month we select a restaurant to go to after church for some great food and conversation. If you are new to the Park, this is a great way to meet a few people. This Sunday we will be going to Willies on 1604 and NW Military. Will and Jackie Doenges will be hosting.
Summer Psalms Community Groups: We are excited to study a few psalms this summer like we did last year. One new thing we will be doing is launching some community groups that will track along with the sermons each week. Currently existing groups can also participate in this study. To view our current list of community groups go to: http://theparksa.org/community-groups/
Each week we will post a discussion guide on our website at www.theparksa.org. Go there to retrieve it and use during your group meeting.
Have a great weekend and we will see you at 10am at Huebner Elementary this Sunday!
Chris
