Sunday, March 15th
As a result of the spread of Covid-19 and the need for caution as well as school closings, neither The Park Oak Meadow Parish and Midtown Parish will be able to gather together this Sunday morning. MacArthur Terrace Parish will be meeting as usual on tonight at 5:00 pm.
Because we will not be with one another, we have recorded the sermon on the passage from Philippians we were planning to study this weekend. It is fitting that we are studying Philippians 2:1:4, which says
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
You may choose to view this video and do these lessons at home with your family, or if you choose to gather together with your Missional Community, Discipleship Core or other friends. Besides the sermon video you will find a playlist for worshipping this morning and during this week as well as lessons from family ministries that you can lead your children in if you choose. We look forward to when we can be together again.
How have you personally experienced encouragement in Christ, comfort in love, fellowship in the Spirit, and compassion? This might be a time you experienced God through Scripture, nature, fellow believer, a struggling co-worker, etc. How did that experience strengthen your faith and encourage you to be present to His leading?
Paul calls us to have one mind (Christ’s); It seems that humility enables us to accomplish this, while selfishness inhibits unity. In what ways have you been guilty of participating in disunity? How do we pursue the mind of Christ with one another?
How do you plan to not only look after your own needs, but also the needs of others?
