Advent Devotional: Hope

The Thrill of Hope, a Weary World Rejoices!

It often feels like the world can’t get much worse. Our 24-hour news cycle fills us with constant doom and gloom, and our social media feeds are designed to grip us with fear and insecurity. Economic anxiety, culture wars, political unrest- it’s no wonder we are weary.

My very favorite Christmas hymn is “O Holy Night .“Whenever I sing, “The thrill of hope, a weary world rejoices!” my eyes fill with tears. It would be easy for us to feel disheartened about our futures. We can combat the temptation to let negativity take hold of our hearts and minds because of the hope and joy we find as we expectantly wait on the arrival of Jesus. He alone is the balm for our worn-out souls. Optimism and happiness are fleeting as our circumstances change, but our sources of hope and joy are steadfast because they are found in Jesus.

As we celebrate Christmas and prepare for another year, I pray that we can rest in the hope and joy of our newborn King.

This has been a year of huge steps of faith that we trust will bear fruit in the years to come. We hope you will take some time to read through this year’s Annul Report.

Jingle Jam This Sunday

Jingle Jam- The Big Give is finally here! This Sunday, December 11th at 8:45am everyone is invited to dress up in their best Christmas festive outfit for a holly jolly time! We will have a light breakfast and a Christmas party for the entire family. See you there!

Pre-Service Connection

Did you know every Sunday we have a time of community before service? Starting at 9:30am we have tacos and coffee available in the sanctuary. We hope you will join us to say hello, catch up, or pray before service.

Daily Scripture Reading

We hope you are continuing to join us in daily scripture reading. We long to see a work of God in our church and in our city. What might the Spirit do in us if we are committed to daily reading together? Join us and let’s see what God will do.

The passages are chosen to coincide with our sermon series. The reading plan is set up so that there’s no “catching up” to do. If you miss a day, just pick up on the next one! Follow along with the readings using a Bible or The Park App or online. Jump in and get started! Establish a regular time and place to help you get into a prayerful state of mind more consistently.

Prayer at The Park

If you have a prayer request you would like us to pray for, we are available for prayer on Sunday morning during service. We also have a way for you to submit prayer request at any time via our Church Form. Prayer request can be confidential or can be shared with our staff to be prayed over. Click here to submit a prayer request.

Friday Morning Prayer

Join us every Friday at 7:30am at the Beacon House. Doors open at 7:15am and coffee will be available. We start at 7:30am with a short lectio divina, then pray ACTS prayer together and close with communion. We are done roughly around 8am.
