Devotional

Did you grow up reciting the Pledge of Allegiance? Every day from elementary school to high school we would stand altogether, place our hand over our heart, and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. It has become second nature to me and now my son, Noah, is doing the same at his school. Have you ever paused and thought about the words and what they mean though?

When I read the Sermon on the Mount I can’t help but think God is writing his Constitution here. And as I read it and start to live as a citizen of His Kingdom, I feel like I am reciting a pledge to live for Him alone. I was poor in spirit and Christ saved me and now King Jesus is giving His King speech to His Kingdom Citizens. And King Jesus begins His speech with our identity as His people: “You are the salt of the earth…you are the light of the world…let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16

This week I want to encourage you to embrace Christ’s constitution. I want to encourage you to live out being a citizen of the Kingdom of Heaven. Above all else our identity is first found in Christ and not in any nation, power, or authority here on earth. Let us live this week as if King Jesus is actually King in our life.

Fall Gathering

Fall is finally upon us and we could not be more excited! Join us Friday, October 30th 5:30pm-7:30pm for a come-and-go Fall Gathering. Each parish will hold a gathering at separate locations. Stay the whole time, or pop in to show off your costume! We will have fun, individually packaged treats for kiddos from our Family Ministry team, a fun Family photo opt for kids and adults, music, and more. Bring your own dinner, camp chair or picnic blanket. While we want this to be a fun and enjoyable event, we also want to stay safe and be considerate of others. We have planned for all activities to be outdoors and highly encourage social distancing. Masks are required except when eating and drinking. Bathrooms are available indoors.
