Devotional

Have you had an “Aha!” moment that opened your eyes to the creativity and masterpiece that the Bible actually is? I had that moment two months ago that brought the Sermon on the Mount to life. It all started in Ephesians 2:19-20:

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone…”

I grabbed my Bible and took hold of the apostle’s writings. It was most of the New Testament. And in my other hand I grabbed the prophets, which was the Old Testament. In the center of these two sections were the four Gospels. The four detailed accounts of Jesus’ life and ministry. My eyes were opened and my heart began to pound. Our faith is built upon the New Testament, the Old Testament, and in the middle was Jesus’ life, my cornerstone.

So I’ve decided to dive into Jesus’ sermon series in Matthew 5-7. Join me over the next few weeks as we dig into this sermon that is the cornerstone of Jesus… who is the cornerstone (Inception type of stuff here). This week I want to encourage you to read or reread this Sermon. I want to encourage y’all to be a people who embody this Sermon. Let us be like the wise man who built his house upon the rock and not be like the fool who built his house upon the sand.
