Hello church family!

As we start another school year none of us would have imagined the course of events of the last 6 months. Like me, you’ve likely experienced a roller coaster of emotions. As a husband, father, and pastor I have found myself grateful and joyful at times but also frustrated and discouraged. I believe our opportunity to encourage the people around us is one of the greatest practices we can engage in right now. Not only does it minister to others, but also can act as a balm to our own souls. In his second letter to the Corinthian church, Paul found himself discouraged and downcast when he wrote, “But God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the arrival of Titus” (2 Corinthians 7:6). From these words, I’d like to encourage you to build a ministry of encouragement. Paul highlights an aspect of God’s nature by reminding us that the Lord is a comforter of the downcast. God comes alongside and sits with the brokenhearted. We, therefore, reflect the heart and character of God when we make a purposed effort to come alongside those around us who are downcast, discouraged, and depressed. We all need encouragement today. We all can be an encouragement today. May we live into our calling and the character of God by comforting our friends, neighbors, and family members
