Read // 2 Peter 3:8-15

Busy. Lost. Unsatisfied. Unfulfilled. Wondering. Wilderness.

No matter the century or the day of the week mankind often places these labels on their life when they believe God has abandoned them. This ranges from Adam to Moses to David to Jesus, and to Scott Austin.

Time is something that mankind uses to provide a false sense of order to their lives. As a result mankind constantly places deadlines for events to occur, and if the deadline is not met then they believe that they are a failure. The glory is we worship a God that is independent of time.

2 Peter 3 rocks our world. God does not place deadlines. God simply tells His creation that He will return and that they should count His Patience as a blessing.

Yes, the God of the Universe is independent of time, He doesn’t set an alarm, He doesn’t fill out a timesheet, and he doesn’t worry about conflicting Outlook appointments. During the season of Christmas it is so easy to focus on the day of Christmas, but remember to step back and make an attempt to view the season from the eternal perspective of our Father. Therefore, don’t be consumed by deadlines, and let our prayer be:

Our Father in heaven
Hallowed be your name
Your Kingdom come
Your will be done
On earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts,
As we also have forgiven our debtors
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
