Good morning!

I hope you have had a great week! I posted this core belief last week and thought I’d give it another go around this week:

One of the Core beliefs of the Park is that the church consists of people, not necessarily programs. Programs are fine, but in and of themselves cannot achieve the mission of the church. People are the vessels, empowered by the Spirit, to communicate the truth of God found in the scriptures and revealed in the Person of Jesus Christ. People are the church, not buildings, programs, or budgets.

In 1 Peter 2 it says, “you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” It goes on to say that once we were not a people, but now we are God’s people…once we had not received mercy, but now we have received mercy.

How would our city look if the mercy we have received reverberated out into every corner and neighborhood around us? Not as the result of a program launched by a particular group, but rather by each individual person acting as the church, the priest to those around them who also need mercy? Lord, let your kingdom come as we intentionally pursue the people around us. May we each discover the program that you have in mind for us.

There is a lot going on around the Park these days and we want to make sure you don’t miss a beat. Check out the following events and opportunities to serve:

PARENTS!– Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 30th 4-6 PM for a Family Ministries Parenting event. We are delighted to be hosting Jason Raitz, who will share his thoughts on the “The Sacredness of Parenting”. “We’ll discover the infinite love God has for His children and how He calls us to love them.” He is a great communicator and we know you will enjoy it! To make it even better, it’s free and we will have babysitters for the kids. Sign up with Jen at to receive the evite with all the details.

DeFrees Family Mission Trip:

The DeFrees family will join Real 4 Christ Ministries in Mombasa, Kenya July 12-24. Real 4 Christ is spreading God’s love in many ways in Africa. They have planted two churches, started a school that serves 300 students and share Jesus with people in neighboring villages. In addition, they have opened a feeding center, medical clinic and drill wells so that communities have clean water to drink.

The DeFrees’ are very excited and humbled to join their friends Chris and Lisa Moore (founders of Real 4 Christ Ministries) in being the hands and feet of Jesus in Mombasa and answering God’s call to go and make disciples.

If you would like to be a part of this opportunity we ask that you keep Real 4 Christ and the DeFrees family in your prayers as they prepare for the trip. Also, if you would like to help financially, please make checks payable to Real 4 Christ Ministries and give your donation to Bill or Pam at church or mail it to 5407 Stormy Trail, San Antonio, TX 78247. There will be plenty of opportunities to serve that morning as well so stay tuned. More info to come. To find out more about Haven for Hope click here.

Exodus Community Groups: Community Groups at the Park track with the Sunday sermons. Any time we start a new book of the bible we engage our community to find out if anyone would like to start or join a new group. Since community is a core value of the Park, we encourage everyone to get into a Community Group. You can find a current list of groups HERE.

If you have questions, contact Chris.

Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you Sunday!
