Good morning!
Welcome to fall! Only in the south are highs in the 80’s considered “Fall” weather. We’ll take it!
We just kicked off our second semester of School of Theology and are excited to see classes taking off and relationships being built. One of our Core Values is community. We believe strongly that each one of us must process our relationships with other people and be intentional about our own discipleship. We can’t take credit for these ideas. Jesus implemented the greatest discipleship plan in history when he modeled how to do life with a dozen guys who couldn’t cut in the religious schools.
In Matthew 4:19 Jesus says, “Come, follow me and I will make you fishers of men”. He intentionally and purposefully invited people into community and invested spiritually and relationally in their lives. Invite. Invest. How simple yet profound. But the risk then gets turned up a notch as we hear Jesus say, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” ~ John 20:21
The mission of Jesus is taken on by His followers. Are there people in your spheres of influence that you can invite into community and invest spiritually in today?
As we gear up for the Fall, there are a few things we want to make sure you are aware of:
Serving the Servants 10.13.12: Brandon Griffin is a local firefighter with a huge heart to serve San Antonio. If you have never been a part of an STS event, this would be a great one to jump in on. We will be serving the SAPD this month. All you have to do is bring some delicious food to donate to the station as a way to say thanks and share the love of God. Stay tuned for more details, but mark it on your calendars. Contact: Brandon @ redgriff@hotmail.com
Blueprint Project 10.20.12: Join us as we partner with Blueprint Ministries to show the love of God by repairing and rebuilding homes in some of the poorest areas of San Antonio. Participants need to be at Blueprint at 8am and work until 4:30 or longer, if needed. Sign up on Sundays or email Dwight at dwight@blueprintministry.com for more details. http://blueprintministry.com/
Volunteering on Sundays: As our community continues to grow, there are always needs with regard to volunteering on Sundays. We ask people for a once-a-month commitment to reinforce the fact that your primary ministry exists outside of Sunday mornings. If we all take one Sunday per month, we can keep that focus alive. Interested to jump in on Sundays in Family Ministries or Set-Up/Take-down? Email Scott at scott@theparksa.org.
Romans Teaching Series: This Sunday we are starting a study of the book of Romans. The focus for this week will be Romans 7. A great way to get more out of Sunday is to read before coming. So, take a 5 minute break today and give it a read. We will see you Sunday.
NEW!! Staff Highlight:
At the Park, all of our staff people are bi-vocational and we want to support them in any way possible. So, we will be letting you know who these amazing people are and what they do. Help us spread the word on these folks!
Kyle Isenhower is one of the Co-Founders of the Park and also runs his own production business called Isenhower Productions. Kyle has created much of the content you see on Sundays and can usually be found by the sound board and computers. He is extremely talented, creative, and professional. He designed our current website which is amazing and easy to navigate.
If you haven’t met Kyle on a Sunday, you should change that this week!
Find out more about Kyle’s work at: http://www.isenhowerproductions.com/
Have a great weekend and we will see you at 10am at Huebner Elementary this Sunday!
